Teacher Training

Initial Teacher Training

Pemberley Academy is part of the Endeavour Teaching School Alliance’s School Direct teacher training partnership. We offer the Tuition Fee PGCE School Direct route into teaching. School Direct is a school led teacher-training route, which enables you to train in schools which share your values and which aim to employ you after you successfully gain Qualified Teacher Status.

Our trainees have been hugely successful and since we began training teachers in 2013, 100% of our trainees have achieved Good or Outstanding at the end of the course, with 75% of trainees achieving Outstanding in 2018-19. Working alongside The University of Derby/Essex Teacher Training, an outstanding provider of teacher education, we offer exceptional school-based teacher training and first-rate support in schools which put enjoyment at the heart of learning.

For more information, download our School Direct Information pack here.

Teaching Futures

Teaching futures is a programme that is run exclusively at Pemberley Academy which gives current undergraduates and post graduates an opportunity to gain experience in school before applying for a Schools direct programme or similar.

Once accepted onto the programme the teacher is assigned to a class with the intention of getting the candidate working with groups of learners in a capacity that allows them to really see what teaching is all about. During the time you are part of the programme you’ll be offered a day’s observation in another primary school, a local senior school and as part of an Essex Teacher training CPD event to really give you a taste of teaching as a career.

You’ll then be fully supported by senior leaders in applying for teaching courses and finding schools to accommodate you to give you the best start to your teaching career, all we ask for is at least one fixed day per week and your enthusiasm!

The programme has seen many candidates move onto full time roles in school such as intervention teachers, and many others have gone on to teacher training programmes with the Teaching Futures programme being their springboard.
